This video presents clips of interviews conducted in the context of the Life Stories of Montrealers Displaced by War, Genocide, and Other Human Rights Violations (http://www.lifestoriesmontreal.ca/), a major research project funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada based at Concordia University.
The Education Working Group, one of the seven working groups within the project, interviewed teachers and students active in Holocaust and genocide education in Montreal. More specifically, those who have worked with survivors of war, genocide or other human rights violations in their classrooms and/or other educational settings.
Through these interviews, we begin to understand the role of survivor testimonials in various educational contexts and the realities facing teachers when they try to incorporate them into the curriculum.
